THE SACRED TRIAD
The original of this sculpture, which dates back to 1450 B.C., was dedicated to Osiris, Isis and Horus who appear in the upper panel with Titiaa, high priest of Amun and his wife, Aoui, kneeling below to offer gifts of fruit and flowers. Osiris wears the Atef crown and carries the crook and flail, while his son Horus is represented as a falcon-headed man. Isis wears the cow's horns and the sun disk which she adopted in the New Kingdom from Hathor. Osiris was the God of the Underworld while his sister and wife Isis was considered the symbolic mother of the Pharoah and was worshipped as "Great of Magic" and regarded as the "Eye of Ra". Their son Horus is traditionally considered the first Pharoah of Egypt and, at later times, the spiritual king while the Pharoah was his representative here on earth. This beautiful relief, majestically presented in black, measures 13" high. The relief is very deep and under its own light echoes the majesty of ancient Egypt. This reproduction is made of hydrostone and has a sturdy hanger on the back.
